Eight enterprising graduates from the University of East London were recently awarded grants of £1,500 by The Haberdashers' New Entrepreneurs Start Up Fund to help fund the development of their businesses.

The University of East London's flagship enterprise competition, E-Factor, came to a close last night when Owen Morgan, an MSc Architecture: Advanced Energy and Environmental Studies graduate was crowned winner at the Grand Final for his winning idea, Cambridge Solar.

A survey targeted at small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) within the London Thames Gateway region revealed that 49% of respondents did not have the correct level of skills to fuel their organisation's development and growth. The survey published by Knowledge Dock, the University of East London's (UEL) enterprise development service was aimed at identifying the key challenges faced by SMEs in the current environment.
