CALLING ALL ENTREPRENURIAL STUDENTS! YOUR UNIVERSITY NEEDS YOU!
04 November 2005
Do you sit there in front of the TV watching all these ‘apprentice’ and ‘entrepreneurial’ shows thinking that you could do better? Think you got what it takes to be the next Branson, Trump or Sugar? Well here’s you chance to prove it!
Knowledge Dock’s Innovation Service is currently recruiting ten switched on students to represent the University of East London (UEL) in the national ‘YOMP’ competition.
Developed with the help of the Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning at the University of Cambridge, Yomp is a new and genuinely challenging way to learn about how businesses are created and grown. Using a unique simulation method, it focuses on the key decisions that businesses have to take to be successful. Participants have to agree on why and when those decisions have to be taken and how they then join together to form a coherent strategy.
Over 100 UK universities will participate in this year’s national competition. Universities will firstly battle it out with their local rivals at regional finals; London’s regional final is to be held at Kings College in London, with the winners progressing onto the national final which is to be held at UEL on the 6th December.
Ten teams will compete in the national final, a one day business simulation at UEL, where teams will receive expert advice from Industry leaders such as PWC, JP Morgan and UBS amongst others. Each team will then present their business concepts to a panel of business leaders.
After judging, champagne will pop, awards will be presented and the day will end in a festive celebration on the waterfront.
Knowledge Dock is looking to recruit a team of ten switched on UEL students to represent UEL in this year’s national competition. We need a cross disciplinary, mixed sex, mixed ethnic team of students, Under or Postgraduate.
The closing date for applications is fast approaching, so move quickly! You never know, this might be the changing point in your life!
