A company based at the University of East London (UEL) Docklands campus has been short-listed in this year’s national e-Learning Awards, to be held at the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington on Thursday 9 November.

XOR Ltd, a multimedia and e-learning business, has been nominated in the ‘Most innovative application of learning technology’ category for its ground-breaking work with the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP).

A double award winner at the 2004 Institute of IT Training Awards, XOR has been working with the DWP in its various forms since 1991 and has developed hundreds of hours of e-learning specifically aimed at DWP staff.

XOR co-founder John O’Sullivan said: "It’s wonderful to have been short-listed for this prestigious award. Over the past few years, XOR has developed powerful knowledge management tools that allow internal experts at the DWP to contribute to the development process and subsequently save taxpayers tens of thousands of pounds.

"We’re also excited about the very large projects that are now rolling out for Job Centre Plus and Pensions. Our partnership approach with DWP has helped them implement cutting-edge solutions, providing immediate productivity benefits."

XOR Ltd was one of the first enterprises to take full advantage of the Knowledge Dock business units when the UEL Docklands Campus opened in 1999.

The company is now based at the new Knowledge Dock Centre, which offers 46 incubator units and business offices, as well as access to a wealth of on-site advice, training, knowledge and expertise.
