Every now and then, a Shell Step student’s work will fit so seamlessly into the mise-en-scene of a company’s vision that the results are simply cinematic. This was the case for Formosa Films, one of the UK’s finest independent film production companies, where innovative ideas are met with a rich repertoire of industry experience.

 

BA Information Production Design undergraduate Amrit Bhogal was the star of Formosa Film’s Shell Step project, mirroring the company’s call for innovation by using Flash programming to enhance the company’s web presence.

 

Aside from re-vitalising the company’s brand image and website interactivity, the student was also responsible for designing new web materials and micro-sites, tailored especially for supporting their up-and-coming Brit-gangster thriller, “Clubbed”.

 

“Amrit Bhogal has been nothing but excellent and has been a bigger asset that we imagined,” says Martin Carr, producer for Formosa Films.

 

“He has been a strong part of the team and has a huge talent. He listened to what was required of us and delivered a spectacular site. He has taken on the style and image of the company and enhanced it; a feat like that takes someone highly creative with a great sense of design.”

 

“Amrit thinks ahead. We even have pages implemented now to deal with pop up blockers and other elements. He considered our market and then changed and tailored the site accordingly so that the information has become available to everyone in a glorious style.”

 

Since the redesign, the new micro-sites have proved especially useful for Formosa’s investors, supporters and clientele. Martin was happy to elaborate:

 

“The Shell Step programme is excellent value for money; our renewed website is up and running and is much better than ever expected. We are now able to communicate directly and much more effectively with our customers. Amrit understood our client base and has provided a very glossy site that not only enhanced the company brand, but also provided an information site for our clients that is very important to our business.”

 

“We are planning to update the website more frequently and we are looking forward to adding a movie section with downloadable content. Amrit has provided a strong foundation for us to build our vision.”
