Paul Henry Architects Case Study
16 March 2006
“Part of our culture is to work hard and find ways of incorporating outside influences into career development and R&D at the practice. It was this that led us to work with Simlab at the University of East London.”
Simlab supported Paul Henry Architects’ practice by developing staff proficiency specifically in the area of 3D modelling and visualisations. Furthermore, Paul Henry Architects took on three UEL graduates from the School of Architecture to enhance its creative vitality. “The first project we did with them as a test bed was on the re-design of a local Baptist Church. The experience was just as we hoped with Simlab coming in to work really closely with us. They helped us get through the planning department by allowing planners to visualise clearly what we were proposing.”
“The 3D modelling they provide isn’t unique; we’ve used similar commercial services on some of our bigger projects. What is unique, though, is the opportunity to work with this technology on smaller projects and for our staff to get extended experience and training as part of the whole process.”
Assured that the company’s creative output will remain at the forefront of architectural design, Paul Henry was pleased with the collaborative outcome: “I’m absolutely confident of the payoff for the practice that will result, through innovations in both design and service.”
