Anointed Productions Case Study

31 March 2006

Established just a year ago with support from the Prince’s Trust, the company’s primary focus is to let black and Asian youths with learning difficulties be inclusive in society through the expressive medium of film. By providing video training to marginalised youth groups, they collaborate and produce an affirmative output of professional short film products, with the encouraging effect of empowering the youths’ opinions whilst de-stabilising the overlooked fixedness of racial representation.

Standing on the cutting edge of youth culture, Anointed Productions have done outstanding production work for events sponsored by Nike and Atari, including basketball event tournament Midnight Madness. So pleased are the company with the involvement of their young collaborators and projects that they are in the process of promoting their short film products for entry into international film festivals.

“We are a young company and are just starting up financially,” points out Veronica Igwe, spokesperson for Anointed Productions. “However, Knowledge Dock has given us fantastic support with important advice and various funding opportunities.

“We are especially pleased with the HotHatch and everything it provides. The location here is so welcome and ideal. It’s a great virtual setup where I can have all my calls directed to me easily. It’s such a nice and clean environment – meeting people in its office space and facilities is so professional.”

Using the HotHatch as their base of operations, Anointed Productions have found the environment to be a highly advantageous point of contact for reaching their investors and conducting their business. The networking opportunities made possible through the HotHatch have proven to be a huge benefit for the company’s funding prospects, having recently secured a Haberdashers Grant of £1000 towards their company endeavours.

“Through Knowledge Dock, we procured the Haberdasher’s Grant as well as securing a £5000 award from Newham film fund. The funding and the services provided here are extremely valuable to us.”

Achieving so much in such a short space of time, Veronica reflects on future prospects: “We’re gonna keep doing more of the same, and are looking to be bigger and better next year. The focus we have on the community, our designs and our progress, it makes it all the more promising for us to deliver to the community.”
