Jean assists businesses and entrepreneurs in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham through her work on the LEGI (Local Enterprise Growth Initiative) programme. As well as helping companies and individuals in the area to access the expertise and technology of UEL/Knowledge Dock and Knowledge East, she works with all the other LEGI partners to stimulate new enterprise development. Jean's work is underpinned by her experience in similar positions and her BA in Archaeology and Anthropology from SOAS (School of African and Oriental Studies.)

Gary Bevis

Gary's role at the Product Design Lab (PDL) is to assist in the daily operations of PDL. This ranges from developing client briefs, conducting market and product research through to the conceptualisation of ideas. Gary graduated with a 2:1Hons in Product Design Futures from the University of East London in 2006.

Martin Chan

Martin is responsible for the Communications Team, the marketing strategy of Knowledge Dock and all its tactical marketing activities. Martin has a proven track record in successfully developing and implementing marketing strategies, having worked in a number of global IT firms, business support firms and working as a Marketing Consultant where he supported a broad range of organisations. Martin is currently studying for an MBA at UEL to complement his MSC in Marketing and BA in Business Studies.

Jacqueline Chandler

Jacqueline manages the Knowledge Dock Business Centre and its facilities, which includes business offices, incubator units, meeting rooms, reception and personnel. As lead buyer for Knowledge Dock, she is also in charge of all invoicing operations. Her experience working for UEL has spanned over 14 years where she also managed the Business Development Centre at the Stratford Campus and administrated courses for Diploma in Management Studies. Jacqueline has a City & Guilds in Facilities Management NEBS Diploma in Supervisory Management and is currently studying for British Institute in Facilities Management Part 1.

Joanne Harrison

Joanne is a specialist in modelling and visualisations technologies. Having advised and assisted over 250 firms since joining Knowledge Dock, clients can benefit from Joanne's 20-years-plus experience within the IT industry. Joanne holds a Masters degree in Information Technology, and is highly proficient with 3D visualisation tools and multimedia technology.

Matt Hurley

Matt is a key industry professional within Knowledge Dock who established and built the Product Design Lab (PDL) into the commercial design consultancy that it is today. From sourcing the right technology and materials to equipment specification, Matt project manages to ensure a productive relationship between today's design technology and its end-users; adding real-life value for transforming businesses. Working on ground-breaking products alongside Knowledge Dock since 2000, Matt understands the routes to market and strives to position clients at the vanguard of value and innovation.

Thorsten Klein

Striving to cultivate a stimulating and supportive incubation environment for start-ups to flourish, Thorsten's role is to help students, graduates and local entrepreneurs to start-up their own business. Thorsten draws upon extensive start-up experience having advised hundreds of start-up companies as well as successfully establishing a series of start-up/entrepreneurship initiatives including UEL's Enterprise Zone, HotHatch, Be Your Own Boss programme and Student Entrepreneurship Society.

Responsible for the reception and administrative operations at the Knowledge Dock Business Centre, Hisland's role is to ensure that visitors to the Knowledge Dock Business Centre are assisted in a professional manner. Hisland is also responsible for ensuring that the administrative support provided to licensees of the Knowledge Dock Business Centre is appropriate to their business needs.

Gareth Lewis

Gareth manages the Enterprise Services Team and excels at building upon UEL's firm foundation of students, graduates and academics to support the requirements of commerce and industry. Working in business support since 1997, Gareth has a concrete background in industry and knowledge transfer, which greatly guides his ability to successfully deliver business support programmes, including supervised student placements where his efforts has seen Knowledge Dock win a plethora of awards, including the 'Best New Shell Step Agency'. Gareth has worked as a Commercial Manager for three years in the manufacturing industry which compliments the knowledge acquired in his previous role as Business & Economic Development Manager for Essex County Council.

Rob Moss

Rob has responsibility for guiding the overall strategic direction of Knowledge Dock. With over 10 years business support experience, Rob has an accomplished record in successfully delivering funded projects into commercially sustainable operations. During his time, Rob has built up extensive knowledge and experience within the business support and knowledge transfer industry. Rob obtained his MBA in 1997 and is seasoned in formulating strategic plans to realise growth opportunities for business.

 

Kate Terry

Drawing on her five years of experience in large format digital fabric printing, Kate oversees the day to day running of the Fabric Print and Design Bureau. Her good eye for colour is informed by her MA in Fine Art from the University of Guelph and the numerous teaching positions she has held. Kate is also a practising artist, and regularly exhibits her work in the UK and Canada.

Claire Trewin

As the Consultancy and Commercialisation Manager, Claire is responsible for encouraging UEL's academics to commercialise their research activity where appropriate; managing the University's academic consultancy activity and also the University's KTP programme. Claire also manages Knowledge Dock's Expert Centres, including the Product Design Lab, SimLab and Fabric Print & Design Bureau. With a 10-year track record of delivering Government-funded projects, Claire combines knowledge and experience of connecting businesses with higher education expertise. Claire is currently studying for an MBA in General Management.

Sujata Vaishnav

Sujata is the Project Manager for the Hot-Net project. Her role is to set up and run a hot-desking support network of clients and providers across the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham to collectively provide access to hot-desk space and facilities and to connect early stage and pre-start up businesses with the right entrepreneurship advice and help. Sujata brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the project having coordinated the business operations of the Knowledge Dock HotHatch for a number of years.

Stacey Wallin

Stacey is the Personnel Assistant to the Director and Executive Managers of Knowledge Dock. In addition to her primary role, Stacey is also a Project Administrator for all the supervised student placement programmes run by Knowledge Dock, where she is responsible for ensuring that suitable students are placed within host companies.

Sharleen Wilson

Sharleen is the first point of contact for most visitors to the Knowledge Dock Business Centre (KDBC). As receptionist to the Knowledge Dock Business Centre, Sharleen is responsible for greeting and registering visitors to the KDBC, as well as providing operational and administrative support to licensees at the KDBC.

Karen Wilton

As the Conference & Events Executive, Karen is responsible for managing the conferencing facilities at the Knowledge Dock Business Centre (KDBC). Her role is to offer a bespoke service to clients who want use the KDBC to stage events or meetings. Karen possesses extensive event management experience having run and staged events throughout her career.
