Knowledge Transfer Partnerships
A Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) is a partnership between a company, a university and a recent graduate who collaboratively tackle a project which is of strategic importance to the company. Part-funded by the Government, KTPs are designed to help companies benefit from the wide range of expertise available from universities, including the University of East London.
At the heart of each KTP is a relationship between a company and academic staff at the University of East London, whereby University expertise is applied to a project that is central to the development of the company partner. In the process, academic staff use the experience to enhance the business relevance of their teaching and research.
Each KTP is managed by a team consisting of staff from the University, the company partner and a recently qualified graduate who is recruited as the KTP associate. The aim of each KTP is to improve the competitiveness of the company partner and enhance the career prospects of the KTP associate.
Companies all over the United Kingdom are gaining the following advantages through participation in KTPs:
- development of new products and markets
- improved product design
- implementation of new technologies
- financial support for innovation
- streamlined processes
- heightened quality
- reduced costs
- increased sales turnover.
The Tangible Benefits for Business
